Pupil Premium

Schools receive additional funding to help support disadvantaged children and young people succeed at school. This funding is referred to as the pupil premium grant.

Schools are eligible for pupil premium funding for each student who:

  • has received free school meals at any point in the last six years
  • is, or has ever been, in local authority care
  • has parents in the armed forces

It is up to each school to determine how to best utilise the pupil premium to boost student achievement. This funding might be allocated for inspirational trips and outings, in-class support, or specialised counselling and therapy services.
