Overview
Christ’s School's vision for sport is to be recognised as one of the leading state schools in the country with an outstanding reputation for its sporting provision, achievements and academic attainment.
At Christ’s we firmly believe that sport is a key component in building student self-esteem and self-confidence, as well as contributing to the school ethos and driving further academic excellence. We believe the drive to compete and excel in sport shapes a young person’s character, binds the school together and reinforces the drive to compete and excel academically. Christ’s PE department uses competitive sport to energise the school culture. Our school leaders understand the value of sport and continually promote it.
The Physical Education department at Christ’s School will provide the highest quality of teaching and learning in and outside of the classroom. We aim to provide a curriculum that stretches and challenges our most practically able students, as well as providing a platform for all students to flourish in Physical Activity and Sport to exceed their potential. We will create extra-curricular provision in and outside of the classroom, which is inclusive, broad, competitive and enriching.

Edexcel GCSE Physical Education is an exhilarating course that empowers students to explore their passion for sports and fitness while developing essential life skills. Through a blend of practical activities and theoretical knowledge, students engage in various sports, honing their skills in teamwork, leadership, and personal fitness. The curriculum covers key topics like anatomy, training principles, health, and the role of sport in society, providing a comprehensive understanding of the physical education landscape. Students will have the opportunity to participate in and analyse their performances, fostering a lifelong appreciation for an active lifestyle and preparing them for further study or careers in sports, health, and fitness.
All students continue to have 1 hour of core PE per week.
We boast one of the largest provisions for extra-curricular sport in the country. We have clubs that run before school, at lunch and after school. Timetable for clubs changes each term.
Most clubs are open sessions for all to participate, unless it states team only.
