Overview
Pupils learn to develop practical and investigative skills which include using a range of scientific methods and techniques to develop and test ideas and explanations. Pupils learn how to work safely in the science laboratory and build expertise in planning and carrying out practicals.
Science is a core subject studied by all pupils at KS3 (years 7, 8 and 9) and KS4 (years 10 and 11). It is also offered as an option at KS5 (years 12 and 13) in the form of A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These experiences allow pupils to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills; as well as abilities to work in teams to achieve goals; analyse data to draw conclusions; and work as independent and reflective learners.
Facilities
Our school's science facilities are second to none, designed to inspire curiosity and fuel scientific discovery! With seven fully-equipped labs, students have all the space and tools needed to conduct exciting experiments and investigations. Our three dedicated science technicians are always on hand to provide expert support, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely. Plus, with two comprehensive prep rooms stocked with the latest equipment and materials, we’re ready for anything—from cutting-edge chemistry experiments to advanced biology dissections. In our science department, there is everything needed to explore, experiment, and excel!
Key Stage 3
Unlock the mysteries of the universe with Key Stage 3 Science! Get ready to dive into the wonders of biology, chemistry, and physics and explore everything from the tiniest cells to the farthest reaches of space.
